AST Research Inc’s president and chief executive Safi Qureshey said the company’s goal is to knock NEC Corp out of its position as the fourth largest computer maker: AST will unveil several new product lines in the next 120 days, including mid-range to low-end servers and a new family of portable personal computers to replace the current portables; the company said the new servers will be released in the late summer or early autumn; it will also introduce a Pentium-based notebook before the end of the year; the Irvine firm looks to expand into more international markets and sees good growth next year.
