Amalgamated Software of North America Inc, ASNA, the company that last month brought you the first C compiler for IBM’s AS/400 (CI No 1,182), is now offering an RPG/400 compiler for System 36. RPG400/36 enables users to develop programs on the System 36 that are completely compatible with RPG/400 while taking advantage of the more efficient coding in IBM’s new version of the language, so that users can convert their 36 programs on the 36 to run in native mode on the AS/400. It also enables programs written on the AS/400 to be brought down to System 36. The product will be available from September worldwide, but the San Diego company did not give a price for the thing.
