Ashton-Tate Corp has a new release of its Framework integrated decision support software, which combines seven applications in one program with a single menu system: Framework IV offers improved links to Ashton-Tate’s dBase product family, providing access to larger databases by enabling users to create and modify dBase .dbf files; it also offers proportional fonts and customisable business graphics for professional-looking documents; it has a new database management system that uses disk-based .dbf files, and uses dBase IV record locking so multiple users on a network can access information safely and simultaneously; 12 Bitstream typefaces are bundled and a WYSIWYG page preview lets users view documents in final form before printing; it needs 640Kb, MS-DOS 2.11 up and a hard disk and it costs $700.
