Ashton-Tate Corp now runs its own show in Japan: its partner, Japan System Engineering, has sold its stake in Nippon Ashton Tate to its Torrance, California partner after running the thing as a joint venture since 1980; now that Ashton-Tate, Microsoft and Lotus Development Corp all run their own shows in Japan, competition is expected to intensify.
