ASCOM OPTIMISTIC ABOUT 1997 DESPITE 1996 DECLINE IN SALES

Ascom Holding AG reckons it is finally on its way out of the woods. It says it raised 1996 operating profit and could do so again in 1997, but finance chief Jakob Schlapbach also said that the company saw a slight decline in order inflow and in sales in 1996.
