French manufacturer Ascom Monetel SA has won a contract worth $12m from the Paris public transport authority RATP to replace all the ticket validators in its fleet of 4,000 buses. The equipment combines magnetic stripe and contactless ticketing technology. Ascom Monetel had 1995 revenue of $233m. Last year it also provided systems for the suburban railway network in Kuala Lumpur and the metro systems for Medellin and Brasilia, it said.
