Ascom Holding AG’s Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey-based Ascom Timeplex Inc has announced that its line of local network internetworking systems now support DLSw, the IBM-compatible version of the proposed Data Link Switching standard for transmitting SNA and NetBIOS traffic across a TCP/IP backbone. The news follows Proteon Inc’s controversial announcement of the first commercially available implementation of DLSw last January. According to Ascom, which is a member of the APPN Implementors Workshop and related DLSw working groups, DLSw is available on the company’s Enterprise Router, Router Bridge, Access Router and Integrated Access Node. No extra charge is being made for the DLSw functionality.
