Ascom AG of Switzerland has exercised its option to buy up to 35% of Sunnyvale, California-based Identix Inc, a manufacturer of electronic fingerprint scanning systems for identity verification and security applications; the original agreement was signed on December 17 1987, when Ascom became the European distributor for Identix and invested an initial $3m in the firm.
