ASCII’s CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT TOOL LAUNCHED WITH HIGH HOPES THAT THE MARKET WILL GROW RAPIDLY

By CBR Staff Writer

At last week’s CASE Japan software engineering exhibition, ASCII Corp was demonstrating CCC/Manager, a file version and configuration management software from Softool Corp of Goleta, California. In Japan, the market for configuration management tools is still small, just a fraction of the current market total value of $204m, but ASCII says it is expected to grow to a value of more than $1,000m by 1996, with Japan taking up approximately 14% of that. Prices for the Unix version start at $683 for a single user licence, while the Windows version starts at $100.
