By CBR Staff Writer

Ascii Corp is to begin charging for its Asciinet electronic information and communications service from June 1, following NEC, which began charging for its PC-VAN from March 1; Ascii has set a $20 membership charge, plus $14 a month – but functionality has been improved, with things like a shared filing system called ‘Hypernotes’; Ascii launched the service in May 1985 and now has 26,000 members; it will also charge for its Asciinet MSX home computer network service.
