ASCII DEVELOPS NEW-DESIGN THUM-SHIFT KEYBOARD FOR USE WITH NEC PC-9800

By CBR Staff Writer

Ascii Corp has developed a new-design thumb-shift keyboard for use with the bestselling NEC PC-9800 series: the keyboard combines the Japanese standard JIS array and the thumb shift array, and is also about two-third the size of the special PC 9800 keyboard; the frequently-used keys have been made bigger, and a separate 10-key pad is available as an option, supposedly making numeric input more efficient; the price for the new board is around $245, plus an additional $65 for the 10-key pad, and Ascii expects to sell 20,000 keyboards in their first year of marketing.
