Alameda, California-based manufacturer of digital wide-area network bandwidth on demand, ISDN aggregator and wireless remote access products, Ascend Communications Inc is buying again. It is to acquire NetStar Inc for 0.35398 of an Ascend share for each NetStar out, valuing the latter at about $300m. NetStar makes Internet switching equipment that can be used to overcome bottlenecks that slow computer network traffic. Last year, Ascend acquired the newly-created remote access business unit of Dayna Communications Corp (CI No 2,750).
