The clone-makers have no intention of giving Intel Corp an easy ride, and Texas Instruments Inc is due this week to launch the first iAPX-86 microprocessors under its agreement with Cyrix Inc – but it too is planning to add value of its own in future versions. Texas has begun sampling its 20MHz and 25MHz Ti486SLC and 25MHz and 33MHz Ti486DLC processors at 5V, and will offer 3V versions of the former two. In the first half of next year, the company hopes to start incorporating its own technology with the CPU cores, with graphics and networking on the list.
