Object Design Inc is getting ready to ship release 2.0 of its ObjectStore object database management system, and claims that the enhancements that it has made as a result of feedback from the likes of IBM Corp, SunSoft Inc and NeXT Computer Inc raises the benchmark by which all commercial object database products will be judged. The Burlington, Massachusetts company says the new release adds advanced schema evolution, enhanced heterogeneity, file database support, security authentication and CD-ROM support. The company claims that it has 40% of the worldwide market for object databases, with 300 companies now using ObjectStore.
