Not wanting to lose a good man, IBM Corp has appointed Metaphor Computer Systems’ chief executive David Liddle to the new post of vice-president, new systems business development in the Personal Systems division. Dr Liddle’s task will be to work to establish and expand strategic programming alliances that complement IBM’s internal development efforts on OS/2, AIX, advanced object technology and future Personal Systems operating systems. He was in line to lead the object-oriented Taligent joint venture with Apple Computer Inc but ducked out.
