Now that Apple Computer Inc is stepping up its efforts to win big in the business market, it has called in Micro Focus Plc, Newbury, Berkshire in to provide that sine qua non of the traditional business world, Cobol. The two signed a development agreement that will make Micro Focus Cobol v3.0 and development tools available for the Mac and will ally to offer Cobol, Toolbox and Dialog System for MacOS – but don’t hold your breath – Cobol with ANSI ’85 certified compiler, Animator, Forms-2, and 68000-040 Native Code Generator will not be ready until the end of next year; Micro Focus Toolbox with Editor, Screens, Structure Animator, Analyser and Session Recorder, and Dialog System will follow in first quarter 1994.
