How will the new IBM Corp clear-out of dead wood work? According to the Wall Street Journal, managers rate employees on a scale that means lower than three and you’re out, and threes are given six months or so to pull their socks up or bye-bye: now, it hears, anything below five will be treated as unsatisfactory and instead of getting a measured mile checklist of areas for improvement, an employee will get only 30 to 60 days – as one manager says, it will come down to just a measured hundred yards.
