Fujitsu Ltd and Hitachi Ltd have dissolved their 17-year-old Facom-Hitac Ltd joint venture, established at the behest of the Ministry of International Trade & Industry when it coerced the two companies to collaborate on the development of IBM-compatible mainframes as one of three national groupings. The firm offered consultancy and systems integration services to public sector companies in the Tokyo and Tokai regions. It did $443m last year. Its 1,955 employees and all other assets will be shared out equally.
