Computer Associates International Inc, Islandia, New York has acquired the Scancom (Europe) Ltd arm of the Godalming, Surrey-based Sancom Ltd subsidiary of Scancom Holdings Ltd, on undisclosed terms because it coveted the company’s PC Audit automated function that speeds inventory data collection and audit validation. It plans to add it to its CA-Netman product line, offering automated inventory of personal computer assets, reduced costs and consolidation of resources, the easy identification of hardware and software for help desk support personnel, and local area network configuration support. It avoids the need for tedious rekeying of inventory information, the company says, getting the current known inventory from CA-Netman/PC, compares it to the actual configuration on the local personal computer and automatically generates the necessary updates to the CA-Netman/PC system.
