AT&T Co’s UK network systems integration subsidiary AT&T Istel Ltd has been warning employees that it is going to have to make cuts, and that about 375 jobs are at risk. Moreover, there will be no general salary increase this year. Istel says that in 1990 it put in place resources to support very ambitious growth targets, but the severity of the recession means it is having to moderate its growth bans in some areas and reduce its cost base. Managers are in the firing line.
