AS/400 NT CO-PROCESSOR SUPPORTS NCs

By CBR Staff Writer

The 200MHz Pentium Pro co-processor which IBM Corp will make available to its AS/400 RISC system users for running Windows NT 4.0 will require V4R2 of OS/400 which ships next year. The co- processor will ship in PCI or SPD buses. Midrange Computing adds that unlike other co-processors IBm has offered, this one will come with its own system console, mouse, LAN adapter and printer attachments. It will support the creation of up to 16 virtual NT Server disks on the native disk store, each up to 8Gb in size. Applications running on the co-processor get access to AS/400 data and IBM will utilize both Citrix Systems Inc ICA and Microsoft Corp’s future Hydra software to connect network computers and Windows terminals. Each co-processor supposedly supports up to 25 NCs.
