Memorex Telex NV is taking on IBM Corp’s 9337 disk array for 9406 models of the AS/400 with launch of the 3937 Disk Array Subsystem. Memorex says the dual-processor 3937 can be configured to provide including RAID 5, hot-pluggable components and Fast Write Assist. One CPU handles the link to the AS/400 and cacheing, the other the SCSI disk array of up to 10 3.5 drives. Subsystem capacities range from 1.9Gb to 13.7Gb of usable data storage. It will be out next quarter; no prices were given.
