Tucson, Arizona-based Artisoft Inc has launched the NetWare-based server product for the LANtastic network operating system promised back in March. Called CorStream, the product is a 32-bit LANtastic NetWare Loadable Module combined with a run-time version of NetWare 4. It is said to be seamlessly integrated with the LANtastic v.5.0 and 6.0 environments, appearing as a normal LANtastic server to clients. Support for System Fault Tolerance Levels 1 and 2 for LANtastic network users is claimed, while Artisoft also says that it has included redundant file structures which make two copies of file allocation tables and directory entries, each of which is put in a different section of the disk. The product is also said to incorporate background file compression in order to maximise disk space. CorStream is due to ship this month and will be offered as a stand-alone server, or bundled with LANtastic V6.0 client software. Prices are to start at $950 for the stand-alone, five-user version, and $1,150 for the bundled offering. For a limited – although unspecified – time, Artisoft says it will be including an Eagle Technology EP 3210 EISA Ethernet adaptor with all kits sold in the US, and an Eagle NE3210 EISA adaptor with all kits sold internationally.
