ARTECON INTRODUCES ERASABLE OPTICAL DRIVE SUBSYSTEM

Artecon Inc, of Carlsbad, California, has introduced an erasable optical drive subsystem, available in dual-chassis enclosures with or without other disk drives: storing up to 594Mb of data on each 5.25 optical disk, it is supported by SunOS 4.0.1 with the Sun-3 or Sun-2 SCSI host adaptor, with an Artecon device driver controlling the SCSI device on Sun 3 and 4 workstations – prices for it start at $7,000.
