Melville, New York distributor Arrow Electronics Inc has rather cheerier news, saying that for the quarter to March 31, it expects to report earnings per share in excess of the 12 cents earned in last year’s first quarter and more than double the 6 cents recorded in the immediately preceding quarter, but first quarter sales were about $237m, 4% down on a year ago; the company also reports that Sun Microsystems Inc has signed it to offer its Sparcstations and servers to value-added resellers of network-based computing systems.
