Array Networks has unveiled the Array SPX800 Universal Access Controller (UAC), a new remote access appliance for small and medium businesses (SMBs). The company claimed that with the SPX800 appliance, SMBs and employees can benefit from a range of SSL VPN and remote desktop access functionality without making sacrifices in time, effort, budget, or security.

The company said that the SPX800 appliance allows user, road warrior or office worker to securely connect to internal resources from remote locations in a deployable appliance.

For road warriors, the SPX 800 delivers SSL VPN access to the network and all applications from any PC and from any location. For office workers, the SPX800 provides remote access to the worker’s desktop with access to his applications.

This enables the SMB to have remote access and reduces the number of laptop computers that these businesses need to purchase. With the SPX800, businesses can provide employees and partners with remote access to internal applications, desktop PCs and servers, as well as virtual infrastructure, the company said.

In addition, the SPX800 features Array Pilot, an administrative user interface with wizards and device configuration workflows for installation.

The SPX800 is available with two options: 25 concurrent users and 50 concurrent users. It includes a set of SSL VPN features as well as DesktopDirect, a remote desktop control product, the company said.

Michael Zhao, president and CEO of Array Networks, said: “Remote access for SMBs has been an afterthought for enterprise-class SSL VPN vendors. With the SPX800, SMBs now have a truly high-value, optimised remote access solution that serves all their needs in a single, affordable appliance.”
