ARMSTRONG SAYS AT&T IS NOT INTERESTED IN AOL

By CBR Staff Writer

AT&T chief executive Michael Armstrong said Thursday that his company is definitely not looking to acquire internet services provider America Online Inc. Armstrong quashed recurring rumors by telling a gathering at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington that AT&T is absolutely not interested in, nor are we pursuing acquiring America Online. Armstrong also downplayed the possibility of the telecommunications giant signing a major deal with AOL to promote its services to AOL subscribers, something else that had been speculated on recently.
