The agreement will see Thomson use the ARM7 and ARM9 range of microprocessors in its own range of high volume consumer electronics. ARM microprocessors will now be used in Thomson’s broadband modems, digital televisions, DVD recorders and mobile video equipment.
Both ARM and Thomson believe that the licensing agreement could pave the way for increased collaboration between the two companies on future multimedia and multi processor systems projects.
