The two companies will collaborate on the design of symmetric multiprocessor cores that they will initially target at the wireless handset, consumer electronics and automotive markets. The firms expect to have the technology on the market as early as the end of next year.
ARM also intends to license the resulting technology to other silicon developers, who will then be able to incorporate it into their own designs.
