ARIDUS DROUGHT TO PERSIST TILL EARLY 1990 FOR DEC VAX USERS

The Aridus processor project to develop a VAX CPU delivering 20 MIPS in uniprocessor configuration is reportedly on schedule but the machine will not be announced until after the end of DEC’s financial year on June 30, and shipments are not likely to be made before 1990, according to Electronic News. Aridus? The machine is the dry or air-cooled version of a water-cooled ECL CPU called Aquarius that DEC has abandoned.
