Under terms of the deal, Sunnyvale, California-based Ariba will pay an undisclosed sum to acquire privately held Alliente, which employs about 100 people and provides outsourced indirect procurement services to technology companies such as Lucent and Avaya.
Indirect procurement is the purchase of goods and services such as supplies that are common to all businesses, and here Alliente offers services such as leasing, document printing and marketing, travel administration, industrial equipment, property services, and energy services.
Alliente has a long-standing relationship with Ariba, and has developed a standardized platform based on Ariba software that provides application hosting, transaction processing and certain managed services. The deal is expected to close at the end of January.
