Arianespace launched the Galaxy VII telecommunications satellite for General Motors Corp’s GM Hughes Electronics Corp, saying the flight marked its first use of the Perigree Velocity Augmentation procedure, designed to increase the satellite’s orbital life by more than one year; the bird is to provide telephone, data and TV in the US.
