ARDENT DOING JUST AS WELL IN JAPAN, COURTESY OF KUBOTA

By CBR Staff Writer

Ardent Computer Cor seems to be doing just as well in Japan, courtesy of its manufacturing partner and biggest investor, the Kubota Computer wholly owned subsidiary of Kubota Steel Co, as it is in the US: Kubota has begun shipping the Ardent Titan graphics minisupercomputer, with five going into Kubota Steel itself, and another 10 going to other users, including Japanese national research laboratories – that compares with around 10 shipped to the US from the Kubota plant; RISC software development has been progressing in parallel with hardware; the two models being shipped have one and two CPUs respectively, but the four processor version is expected to be shipped by year-end; rival Stellar’s GS1000 has four CPUs.
