Shares in Arbor Software plummeted 30% in May on the news that Hyperion was acquiring it, but the two companies’ move to tie together products to become a stronger force in the analytical applications market has got the green light from Hyperion shareholders and is expected to be agreed (CI No 3,420) by Arbor’s shareholders at a meeting Friday, a company spokesperson said. Hyperion provides mainly front end, packaged applications, whereas Arbor sells the OLAP engine which sits them and enables them to handle more complex problems.
