Aquarius Inc, a computer industry marketing group, has been looking into the Japanese notebook personal computer market: domestic shipments of A4-size machines in fiscal 1990 to March 31 were around 200,000 units, and are expected to rise to 450,000 in the year just started; Toshiba Corp, NEC Corp and Seiko Epson Co are the early market leaders and other companies are expected to join the fray, with Fujitsu Ltd and Oki Electric Co previewing their own machines during 1990; the laptop market is also growing strongly, with demand expected to grow by 64.3% by number in the fiscal year just started; corporate purchase are expected to lead in this growth, with major purchases from companies such as Nissan Motors, Shiseidoo and others.
