APRICOT’s 65Mb 386SX SEALED BOX: UKP1,800 IF YOU BUY 10

By CBR Staff Writer

Making an unbeatable challenge in the corporate microcomputer market, Apricot Computers Plc yesterday laid down the gauntlet to IBM and anyone else pursuing the corporate market by accompanying its six-model Qi line of 80386-based Micro Channel Architecture machines with a Sealed Box model that costs just UKP1,800 with 65Mb disk and Ethernet built in, when you buy 10 or more of the things at a time and install them yourself. The Sealed Box is based on the 16MHz 16-bit bus 80386SX version of the chip, and sets a new marker price for 80386 machines in the corporate market: the price also includes a paperwhite monitor and 1Mb of memory.
