Of course if Apricot is really serious about expanding rapidly in the financial systems and services end of the market, there’s little point in collecting odds and ends – there is a major UK player in that arena that could lead to a healthy amount of horizontal integration, provide possibilities for manufacturing rationalisation and economies of scale, and with Apricot create a really powerful group: a merger with Alphameric Plc might well turn out a marriage made in heaven.
