Four officers of Apple Computer Inc plus two others who have just left the company made large sales of Apple shares in May, filings with the Securities & Exchange Commission show. Edward Birss, vice-president of product engineering, sold 22,500 shares to raise $1.1m, leaving him with just 672. Board member Peter Crisp, who is also a general partner at Venrock Associates, sold 25,000 for $1m, and Jean-Louis Gassee sold his entire holding of 5,000 to raise $200,650. Apple pays its officers in part in shares, so that such big sales are commonplace.
