Desktop application software company Applix Inc has acquired Cosource.com, an auction site for open source and Linux software enhancements. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cosource.com founder and CEO Bernie Thompson has been appointed president of Applix’s Linux division. Applix chairman and CEO Jit Saxena, doubtless with one eye on the spectacular IPOs of Red Hat, Cobalt and VA, hinted that Applix may spin off the Linux division at some point in the future.
