Applied Materials Inc, Santa Clara, California has a cautious go-ahead to lift the veil on orders it received last year from Advanced Micro Devices Inc, Sunnyvale: the orders were for advanced systems for installation in AMD’s Class 1 Submicron Development Centre in Sunnyvale, planned to open later this year, and for the company’s production fab lines in Austin, Texas; while neither the total number of systems nor the dollar amount was disclosed at the customer’s request, there were multiple orders for ion implanters, plasma etch and chemical vapour deposition systems.
