APPLIED COMMUNICATIONS HAS PC-SPDH EPOS INTERFACE

By CBR Staff Writer

Tandem Computers Inc’s Omaha, Nebraska-based Applied Communications Inc has introduced PC-SPDH, a program designed to enable any MS-DOS micro to function as a point-of-sale device to interface with Applied’s Base24 application for point-of-sale systems: the company claims that Base24-pos is used by more than 100 financial institutions to support authorising, switching and terminal driving functions in debit and credit card payment networksm, and the new PC-SPDH, developed in conjunction with the decidedly anonymous DSI of Houston, is described as offering a unique alternative to traditional point-of-sale terminals and enables banks and service providers to extend service to retail merchants that lack point-of-sale terminals; the first release includes authorisation and capture of all major credit and debit card transactions; batch and on-line processing; menu-driven screens and report generation; no indication of price given.
