A beta version of AppleScript finally rolls out to developers next month, and MacWeek reports that there will be gradations to AppleScript compatibility: these include scriptable applications, which must support the Apple events Object Model and core Apple events; recordable applications will have a Watch Me mode, applications will include readymade scripts and applications will be customisable because they dispatch all user actions to the AppleScript interpreter in the operating system; also, Apple reportedly plans to announce the first Newton Personal Digital Assistants in January 1993, but the earliest ship date now being considered is March; the company is finalising a set of tools for creating Newton applications and electronic content.
