APPLES NOW ALL COME FROM APELDOORN

By CBR Staff Writer

Apple Computer Europe SA of Paris has centralised its distribution operation with a $42m centre in Apeldoorn, Holland: it will deliver products from Apple and third parties to resellers and to retail outlets, which doubled in Europe in the year to April; housing 180 staff, Apeldoorn will handle most of Apple’s deliveries into Europe, the Middle East and Africa; using Electronic Data Interchange technology, the site will configure and ship 5,000 to 6,000 units a day on maximum turnaround of 48 hours; Apple aims to eliminate regional warehouses in Northern Europe.
