APPLE’S JOBS PROMISES QUICKTIME 4, NEW POWERMAC

By CBR Staff Writer

Apple Computer Inc’s Steve Jobs has denied that the expected P1 consumer portable device will be announced at the Macworld Expo trade show in January. Rumor has it that Apple is close to signing a strategic relationship with 3Com Corp’s Palm Computing division to produce a co-branded device (CI No 3,555). Jobs, speaking at an education conference in Seattle, did say that a consumer device from Apple will emerge in the first half of 1999. Quicktime 4.0, the version supporting streaming video, which was originally expect to appear this Fall (CI No 3,408), will be announced at the show, he said, along with the Yosemite PowerMac Pro desktop, expected to use a PowerPC G3 processor with clock speeds between 333-450MHz.
