Apple’s software spin-out Claris Corp, Mountain View, yesterday announced that it will open for business on Thursday at the Macworld Exposition in San Francisco, where it will announce its first two home-grown products and new releases of five Apple programs. The new products, due in the second quarter, are SmartForm Designer and SmartForm Manager, described as providing powerful graphics features for creating and managing professional-quality forms of all types. The $395 SmartForm Designer is an object-oriented drawing program with data definition features and $149 SmartForm Manager allows for quick completion of forms created with Designer. Existing programs that are enhanced are MacWrite, $125; MacPaint, $125; the $495 MacProject II, which is a rewrite; MacDraw II, also a rewrite, for $395; and $249 AppleWorks for the Apple II family.
