Apple has pushed back the shipment dates of its new iPad to March 19 instead of March 16.

The shipments would be delayed by two to three weeks, according to a notice on its website.

The company stated all iPad pre-orders placed through the company’s online store will now ship three days after the on-sale date, though customers who pre-ordered very early are expected to receive the tablet on Friday.

The new iPad features a new Retina display, Apple’s A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5-megapixel iSight camera and can record at 1080p HD video.

Apple worldwide marketing senior vice president Philip Schiller said the new iPad now has the highest resolution display ever seen on a mobile device with 3.1 million pixels.

It is due to be released simultaneously in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.

The new iPad will be available in black or white and starts at $499.

Apple has also dropped the price of its predecessor, iPad 2, to $399.
