Apple Computer Inc announced yesterday that owners of its PowerBook notebook computers in the US can now get AppleLink, its global on-line information and communications service, at more than 40% off the normal price until the end of the year, by which time it hopes they will be hooked: the new connect-time rate for PowerBook owners is $15 an hour for 2,400 baud access and $25 for 9,600 baud access, with one-time registration fee of $20.
