Scarcely giving himself time to take off his coat and hat, new chairman and chief executive at Apple Computer Inc Gilbert Amelio yesterday cut prices up to 11% on the company’s Macintosh Performa home computers. The Performa 6116CD with 8Mb memory, a 700Mb disk, CD-ROM drive and 14.4Kbps modem is now $1,500, a cut of 11.8%. It also announced three incentive programs which will run to March 17, giving customers rebates of $150 to $500 when they buy an Apple printer, monitor and Mac together.
