MacApp Release 13, the latest version of Apple Computer Inc’s object-oriented application framework, was launched at the MacWorld show on Tuesday. It adds Network Support Classes, which make it easier to establish and manage TCP/IP connections and add Internet capabilities to applications. The new version also supports advanced capabilities of C++ such as native exceptions, casting operators, templates, constructors and destructors, and the standard C++ libraries. There is tighter control of framework usage, the ability to create multi-threaded applications, support for Mac OS 8 and QuickDraw 3D, and the addition of the Ad Lib layout editor, which Apple acquired from its original developer. MacApp is available immediately for no charge on the web.
