Those television commercials – undoubtedly far and away the most compelling commercials for a computer on British screens in the short history of television advertising of computers – created for Apple Computer Inc by BBDO Inc of Los Angeles, have not passed unnoticed in the advertising industry: the 1988 Designers & Art Directors Association Silver Award for the most outstanding television campaign went to the Balance Sheet, Power Lunch and War Room commercials in the Apple series, and Power Lunch also won the award for the most outstanding 60 second TV commercial; the ads have of course already excited the sincerest form of flattery with pale imitations being created for the likes of British Airways and the Midland Bank here.
